As per IRCC requirements, international students applying for a Canadian Study Permit must purchase a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAD 20,635 from participating Canadian banks (e.g., CIBC, Scotiabank, ICICI Canada) to cover their first year's living expenses.
For diploma and undergraduate degree courses, Nepali students generally require a minimum GPA of 2.8 or above in their Class 12 (+2) board exams. An overall IELTS Academic score of 6.0 (with no band less than 6.0) or equivalent PTE score is typically required for direct admission into Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs).
Yes. Full-time international students enrolled at a DLI are permitted to work off-campus up to 24 hours per week during regular academic sessions, and full-time during designated scheduled breaks like summer and winter vacations.
Graduates who complete a full-time program of at least 8 months at an eligible DLI are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Programs of 2 years or longer generally qualify for a 3-year open work permit, providing an ideal pathway to Canadian Permanent Residency via Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP).
